  2013 Halloween Ball Set Up
2013 Car Show BBQ
October 5th was a busy day for our Rotary volunteers.  After a project at the park in the morning, members were on hand to decorate, set up and serve at the Rotary VIP BBQ at Madera Glass and Auto Body's Annual Gold Cup Car Show.  This is a community event and many local organizations participate.  The BBQ is a fundraiser for our scholarship fund.  Many thanks to Dana Lennemann and Madera Glass and Auto Body for the opportunity to take part.
2013 Love Madera - Dog Park Project
On October 5th community volunteers from various organizations were out in force to take care of several needed projects around the community.  Madera Rotary volunteers partnered with the Madera Parks and Community Services Department to work at the Dog Park located at Rotary Park.  Club Grant Funds were used to contribute towards cement slabs for the benches.  Rotarians and their family and friends were there to assemble and install the benches in addition to adding a few new trees and plants.
2013 Flu Clinic
"Get your Flu Shot, not the Flu!"  On October 1st, the Madera Public Health Department held their annual Drive Thru Flu Clinic at the Madera Fairgrounds with the assistance of Rotary volunteers.  In 2 hours approximately 440 flu shots were given to residents who just drove their car thru and rolled down the window.  Rotary volunteers got their flu shots, too. 
2013 Madera Fair Fundraiser
It was "Nuttin' But Fun" at the Madera District Fair this year!  Madera Rotary held it's annual Fair Booth fundraiser at the exclusive Concert area from September 5 to 8.  American Idol winner Scotty McCreery was the headliner on Saturday night, but it was Sunday that brought in the crowd to our beer/water/soda booths.  So thankful to chairman Mike Herder and Kathy who coordinated the fundraiser and to all the Rotarian volunteers and their families who helped out.
2013 Honor Flight
The August 20th Rotary Meeting was devoted to honoring our service men and women.  The club is raising money to send a Madera WWII Vet on the Honor Flight in October back to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial.  Donations of $20 or more will have an opportunity to be in a drawing for a restored WWII rifle with show case.  KMJ talk show personality Paul Loeffler provided a program on the Honor Flight and made the surprise announcement that Mr. Sanderson had been selected to take the trip.  In addition two new members Tajinder Bassi and Don Borgwardt were inducted into our membership.  Quite a day!
2013 Kick Out Party
The "Jim Pierce Kick Out Invitational" was held on Tuesday, June 26 at the home of Mike and Kathy Herder.  Golf was the theme of the evening, but Jim didn't get off without some ribbing about his being "spelling challenged"!  All in good fun!  Jim thanked his board and the members for a great year and turned the meeting over to 2013-14 President Ren Hallett.
2013 Business Extravaganza
The Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Extravaganza and Trade Show at the Madera Fairgrounds on June 20th.  Madera Rotary was one of 60 booths on display for the community.  Featured in the booth were an iron lung representing our worldwide efforts to eradicate polio and used mobility devices to draw awareness about our need for these items for Hope Haven.  Great networking opportunity for Rotarians and the business community.
2013 Rotary/Netherton Relays
The 20th anniversary of the Rotary/Netherton Relays took place on May 17th at the Lee DaSilva Memorial Stadium.  Students from 18 Madera elementary schools participated in the relays.  Approximately 1500 kids grades 1 through 6 look forward to this annual community event.  All Madera Rotarians and family members are needed to staff the field, the snack bar, and the gates.  In addition, the Police department set up a fingerprinting area to provide this service for any family who wanted to take advantage of this safety step.  Event Chairman Kay Rhoads, Food Chairman Dana Lennemann and all the Rotary and Madera Unified volunteers did an outstanding job!
2013 Rotary Skydiving Day
On Saturday April 13, 2013 Members of the Madera Rotary Club and their family and friends enjoyed a beautiful spring afternoon at the Madera Parachute Center watching fellow members Skydive!  It was an enjoyable day for all.  Thanks to Fellowship Chairman Mike Giersch for making the arrangements.
2013 St. Patrick's Scholarship Dinner
On March 16th the Madera Rotary Club held it's 3rd annual St. Patrick's Blarney Blast to raise money for local Scholarships.  The event was held at Women's World at the Madera Fairgrounds.  Mike Giersch was the general chairman and Rotarians and their families and friends enjoyed a "Rotary cooked" traditional meal and Irish dancers for entertainment.
2013 Rotary Vocational Tour - Gould Educational Center
On March 12 a large group of Rotarians enjoyed lunch and a vocational tour of the Madera Co. Gould Education Center for the disabled.  Madera Rotary donated 2 IPads for use in the classrooms and were able to see first hand the value of their contribution.

2013 Rotary Social Services Project
On President's weekend, February 16 - 18, members of the Madera Rotary Club volunteered to paint and accessorize the visitation room and the adoption rooms at the county department of Social Services.  Chairman Carol Kennedy organized the project and designed the mural.

2012 Rotary Christmas Party
On December 11th members of the Madera Rotary Club and their spouses were hosted at the home of Jill and Steve Cholewa for their annual Christmas party.  Good cheer all around as we celebrated Karen's birthday, Jerry's 50 years in Rotary, and elected Anita to serve as our 2014-2015 club President.

    2012 Halloween Ball
The 9th Annual Halloween Ball was held at Hatfield Hall on October 27th.  Close to 300 people attended and enjoyed dinner, costume contest, silent and live auction and dancing to a live band.
2012 Car Show and BBQ
Madera Rotary cooked and served a tri-tip and chicken BBQ dinner at the Madera Glass & Body Shop annual Gold Cup Car Show on October 6, 2012.  All proceeds go to the scholarship fund for Madera students. Many thanks to Rotarian Dana Lennemann and her husband Mike for sponsoring this event.


2012 Canoe Trip on San Joaquin River
River Tree Volunteers took a group of Rotarians and their families on a trip down the San Joaquin River on September 29, 2012.  The 8 mile canoe trip went from Lost Lake to Fort Washington Beach.  Thanks to Fellowship Chair Mike Giersch for organizing the family outing.
2012 Love Madera
Rotarians volunteer to help clean up McNally Park on Love Madera Day.  Chairman Ren Hallett checks everyone in and makes sure we have water.
2012 Vocational Tour Cedar Creek
On August 28, with the help of Martin Vale and Carol Kennedy, a vocational tour of the state of the art Cedar Creek Retirement Community was arranged.  We had a large turnout and enjoyed a great lunch and fellowship.  The facility is very impressive!  Thanks to Martin and his staff!
2012 Kick Out Party
President Christine had a kick out party with a beach theme at the home of Jill and Steve Cholewa on June 26, 2012.  Everyone had a great time and celebrated a very successful year.
2012 District Conference in Modesto
DG Dave Mantooth held the 2012 District Conference in Modesto on April 20-21.  Jane and Lou Wiebe were conference co-chairs.  22 members/guests of Madera Rotary attended some or all of the District Conference.  Madera Rotary wins Best Large Club Award among clubs with 50 or more members.  Congratulations to all!
2012 St. Patrick's Day Blarney Blast
The 2nd annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner was held on March 16th.  This event was established to raise funds for scholarships for Madera students.  Club members and their families did the cooking, decorating, serving, and clean up while guests enjoyed a fabulous traditional Irish meal, drinks, and games.  Chairman Mike Giersch did a fantastic job.  Many thanks to our chief cooks Jill Cholewa, Johnny Richard and Al Patchell.  Thanks to all who were there for support and help.
2012 TRIO Day
On February 25th, Rotarians and their families teamed up with high school and college kids to celebrate National Service Day.  It was cold and windy, but that didn't stop them from raking piles of mulch along the riverwalk and having fun!
2012 District Family Rotary Day at the Fossil Center
On January 22nd all Rotarians in the district were invited to attend a Family Day at the Madera Co. Fossil Discovery Center.  Madera Rotary hosted the event and members volunteered as greeter, docents, and served cookies.
2012 Vocational Tour Quality Container
On January 17th members enjoyed a tour and lunch at Quality Container in Madera.  It didn't matter if you had a "bad hair day" or not, we all looked alike!  Thanks to Vocational Service Director Marlissa Carlson for organizing the tour and to Quality Container Manager and Madera Sunrise President Elect Marshall Bishop for opening his business for us.
     2011 Rotary Santa Party
Our newest Rotarians and members of the COG committee organized this year's Rotary Santa Party on December 20th.  Nick Benjamin was Santa's helper and Alicia Bennett was the head elf.  Everyone had a great time!
2011 Madera Rotary Christmas Party
Rotarians and their guests were welcomed to the beautifully decorated home of Jill and Steve Cholewa on December 13th for their annual holiday party.  Members donated blankets for the local United Way and contributed to a money tree for other charities.
2011 Rotary Park Work Day
On a sunny and crisp Saturday morning, December 3rd, Rotarians were out in force to plant shrubs, rake leaves, and pick up litter along the riverwalk at Rotary Park.  Ren Hallett is Community Service Director.
2011 Halloween Ball Clean Up Crew
Even though it takes a year to plan and a day and a half to set up, it only takes about 3 hours to tear down and pack up - thanks to all the dedicated volunteers!
2011 Halloween Ball
On October 29th, Madera Rotary had their 9th annual Halloween Ball Dinner/Dance and Costume Party.  Approximately 275 guests attended the event.  Rotary Rocks!
2011 Halloween Ball Set Up
It takes all members and about 20 hours to set up and decorate the hall for the annual Halloween Ball.  This year was the first year that the club (thanks to Mike Giersch) had their own fantastic overhead light system.
2011 Rotary Park Pavilions
On October 11, 2011 Rotarians, Parks Department Staff and the Mayor gathered at Rotary Park to dedicate the 3 new pavilions.  It was a beautiful afternoon for a BBQ.  We also installed a new member and took a club group photo.
2011 Car Show BBQ
On October 8, 2011 Rotarian Dana Lennemann invited Madera Rotary to put on a BBQ Dinner and Beer Garden at her annual Madera Glass and Auto Body Car Show.  All proceeds from the dinner were earmarked for the club's scholarship fund.
2011 Flu Clinic
On October 4, 2011 volunteers from the Madera Rotary Club partnered with the Public Health Department to dispense the flu and pneumonia vaccines at a Drive Thru Clinic at the Madera Fairgrounds.
2011 Steam Train Picnic
October 1, 2011 was Mike Giersch's birthday, but it was also a family of Rotary day at Hillcrest Tree Farm in Reedley.  Rotarians brought family to picnic, ride the steam train, and play with the miniature horses.  Our Heartland Community Corps members joined in on the fun, as well as clients from the STAR Center in Madera.  It was a delightful day for all!
20ll Fossil Center Tour
On September 13th 40 club members and guests met at the Fossil Discovery Center in Fairmead for a Vocational Tour and lunch.  Marlissa Carlson was chairman of the event and did an outstanding job.  There were 3 experienced docents on hand to lead tour groups through the museum.
2011 Madera Fair Booth
September 8-11 Madera Rotarians worked the Fair Booth at the Madera Fair Concert area.  This is not only one of our main fundraisers, but a great time for fellowship and fun.
2011 Kick Out Party
The demotion party for 2010-2011 club president Mike Giersch took place on June 29th at the home of Gary and Phyllis Giersch.  The theme was Pirates and included entertainment by Lou Wiebe's band.
2011 Spring Mystery Trip
On June 11, 2011 Faithful members of Madera Rotary and their guests boarded a bus to ???.  They ended up in Paso Robles where they toured 3 wineries and had dinner at the Hunter Ranch Golf Course.  "Let's do this again!"
2011 District 5220 Conference
April 29-May1st was the D5220 Conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento.  Several members attended the conference and hosted the Friday Night Hospitality "I've Got Your Number" winning a First Place.  The Madera Club also received the Best Large Club Award.
2011 Steam Train Picnic
April 16, 2011 Madera Rotarians had a family day of fun and fellowship at the Hillcrest Tree Farm in Reedley.  President Mike was the steam train engineer, there were miniature horses, tree houses, rope swings and lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.
2011 St. Patrick's Day Dinner
March 18, 2011 Madera Rotary held their first Spring St. Patrick's Day Dinner to raise money for scholarship awards.  The dinner was a huge success and doubled the goal of what was expected to be made for the first year out.
  2011 Wheelchair Delivery Costa Rica
March 2011, 42 Rotarians led by Bob Bitter traveled to Costa Rico to deliver wheelchairs.  They made 3 deliveries and gave school supplies to local schools.
